1. Free Use & Data Security

NetoHebrew™ is a non-commercial personal project, not a registered business or commercial service. This tool is completely free to use. It runs entirely client-side, and your API key is stored locally in your browser — never sent to NetoHebrew™ servers, only to the official AI provider you choose. Local browser storage isn't immune to attacks such as malicious browser extensions, malware, or a compromised/shared device — do not use this tool on a device you don't trust, and remove your key from the interface when you're done on a shared computer.

2. Activity Logging

For security and internal analytics purposes, this service logs certain technical data upon user interactions — including IP address, country, browser type, and event timestamps. Logs are used solely for abuse prevention and service improvement. See our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Translation Engines

NetoHebrew™ offers two translation engines:

AI Translation — performed by third-party AI models (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, or Google Gemini) using your own API key. Your text is sent directly to the AI provider you choose.

Machine translate — free engine powered by Google Translate, available to guests and registered users. No API key required. Your text is sent to Google's public translation service through NetoHebrew™. No text is stored by NetoHebrew™.

Machine translate may run instantly as you type. By using this mode, you understand that the text you enter may be sent to Google for translation without an additional confirmation dialog.

4. Translation History

Guest users — your translation text is not stored by NetoHebrew™. Signed-in users — translation history is not saved by default. You can enable it by checking the "Save to history" checkbox before translating. You can delete individual entries or clear your entire history completely at any time from the history panel. When saved, all history entries are encrypted with AES-256 before being stored — only you can access them.

5. Shared Translation Links

When you share a translation using the Share button, a link is generated that is valid for 24 hours only. After that, the link expires and the shared content is permanently deleted from our servers. Shared translations are encrypted at rest and are accessible only via the unique link.

6. Proprietary & Restrictions

You are free to use this tool for both personal and commercial translation needs. However, any replication, redistribution, resale, commercialization, or unauthorized modification of this software, its source code, or its core logic is strictly prohibited.

7. No Liability

The tool is provided on an "AS IS" basis. The author assumes no responsibility or liability for the accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, availability, or suitability of any translation or OCR output, including output produced by Google Translate, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or any other third-party provider. The author is not responsible for data handling by third-party services, data privacy leaks caused by the user's input, any API costs incurred, or the unauthorized use, theft, or exposure of your API key resulting from how your browser or device stores data. Use it at your own risk.

8. Always Verify Translations

AI-generated and machine translations may contain errors, especially in professional, legal, medical, financial, or technical contexts. You are solely responsible for reviewing and validating any translation before use. Never rely on this tool as a sole source for critical decisions.

9. User Responsibility

By using this service, you accept full and sole responsibility for any outcome resulting from the use of translations, OCR results, or any other output generated by this tool. The author of NetoHebrew™ shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of this service, including but not limited to errors in translation, business decisions made based on translations, or any legal, medical, or financial consequences. NetoHebrew™ does not review, moderate, or take responsibility for the content of any text, files, or scanned images you upload or enter. You are solely responsible for ensuring that all submitted content is lawful, properly authorized, and does not infringe any third-party rights. The user is the sole and exclusive party responsible for holding all rights, licenses, and permissions to any content they submit. Igor F. and NetoHebrew™ bear no responsibility or liability whatsoever for the ownership, copyright, or licensing of user-submitted content.

10. Changes to These Terms

These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Accessibility

NetoHebrew™ is committed to making this service accessible to all users, including people with disabilities, in accordance with the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law (1998) and the Accessibility of Service Regulations. The site currently operates under a temporary exemption from full technical accessibility implementation (פטור זמני) and is actively working toward compliance with Israeli Standard IS 5568 (based on WCAG 2.1 AA).

12. Chrome Browser Extension

NetoHebrew™ offers an optional Chrome browser extension that allows you to translate selected text on any webpage. By installing and using the extension:

Text handling — selected text is sent directly to Google Translate for translation and is not stored by NetoHebrew™.

Settings storage — your chosen target language is saved locally in your browser using chrome.storage.sync and synced across your Chrome devices. No personal data is included.

Anonymous usage ping — after each translation, a minimal anonymous signal is sent to NetoHebrew™ servers, containing only the target language and your approximate country (derived from your IP address, which is not stored). This is used solely for aggregate usage statistics.

Page access — the extension activates only when you select text. It does not read, store, or transmit the full content of any page you visit.

13. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the use of NetoHebrew™ shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Israel.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Igor F. and NetoHebrew™ from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use of the service; (b) any text, files, or scanned images you submit or translate; (c) your violation of these Terms; (d) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights; or (e) any claim that your submitted content caused damage to a third party. This obligation survives termination of your use of the service.

15. Force Majeure

Igor F. and NetoHebrew™ shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to: acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, government actions or sanctions, internet or infrastructure outages, third-party service failures (including Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Supabase, Vercel, or any other provider), cyberattacks, DDoS attacks, power failures, or any other force majeure event. Obligations will be suspended for the duration of such an event without liability.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed entirely. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Igor F. regarding your use of NetoHebrew™ and supersede all prior agreements or understandings of any kind.

18. Minimum Age

You must be at least 13 years of age to use this service. By using NetoHebrew™, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
